Fireworks Night

Inspired, evocative, dramatic and beautiful.

On a mild and mercifully dry November evening, the skies above the Lower Field were once again adorned with vibrant colour, light and sound. After three long years, FoSA’s biggest “Must-See” event returned to the school calendar.

The school was brimming with cheerful chatter, friends of all ages reunited. It was almost impossible to browse the stalls expertly manned by our volunteers from year 3 and up, and not be tempted by the treats on offer!

Silence fell as the fireworks started; goose bumps.

For me and perhaps a few others, another layer of trepidation. My youngest had a love hate relationship with fireworks, until last night anyway. Equipped with ear defenders, a glow wand, and a free pair of arms ready to pick him up and cuddle him, I was nervous to see how the night would unfold. I need not have worried. The excitement of the display together with the safety and comfort of familiar surroundings and the company of his friends sent all fear flying, a resounding success!

Choreographed to perfection to music from the best Tom Cruise movies of all time (giving us all the feels), this display was highly emotive. It was so great to be back! Immersed in the thrill of this Friday night spectacle, oohs and ahhs from awestruck children and parents could be heard all the way through to the jaw dropping climax.

Fireworks Night at St Andrews is a dazzling celebration of the school community and everyone who supports us. This incredible night could not have taken place without volunteers at FoSA, parent, school, and community collaboration. Thank you to everyone who came!

We are also extremely fortunate to have Van and his excellent team in the kitchen providing the food, Kerri Morales for running our bar, and local brewery Thurstons for providing the beer. The star of the show was of course the outstanding pyrotechnics team from Dragon Fireworks, thank you to all involved.

If you would like to get involved with future events, we would love to hear from you. Please contact FoSA or get in touch with your class rep.
