HSA Summer Fair 2024

Kindly sponsored by Foundations

The HSA Summer Fair, the most anticipated family event of the year, proved as popular as ever when the school community turned out in great numbers to face the great British weather together. The rainy start did not seem to dampen anyone’s spirit as the gates opened and happy children ran excitedly to find their friends, and explored the many classic fair stalls on offer, pick a lolly, hook a duck, hoopla, splat the rat, spin the wheel and jolly jars, before trying their aim at the coconut shy and beat the goalie. Whilst the adults perused the external stall providers, the year 2 beauty parlour was proving big business and popular with adults and children alike.

A resounding cheer was heard around the grounds as the sun came out to shine, as if fuelled by the community spirit and fun being had. The fun in the sun continued with the obstacle course challenge, and ever popular water zorbing, while the little ones enjoyed the bouncy castle and sand play.

The much-anticipated Laser Quest brought more joy and excitement from the children and attracted many dads also looking to have just as much fun as their children.

The enjoyment continued with children eagerly competing in sack races and volleyball challenges, until good spirited teachers, Mr Spooner and Mr Vitty, bravely stepped into the stocks for some ‘light’ wet sponge throwing, bravo!

The BBQ, cake stall and bar refuelled the hungry hoards with delicious offerings, including halal, vegan, and gluten free options, and despite the rain the ice cream van had a steady queue throughout the day.

Summerscales Performing Arts wowed the crowds with their spectacular showcase, and the Great Tug of War brought the community together in some lighthearted competition, mums and dads, children against parents, the fun continued until finally the Raffle was drawn, with many lucky prize winners bringing the summer fair jollification to a close.

We would like to thank Foundations of Woking, who kindly sponsored our event, and the Red Lion for supplying the keg of beer for the bar, our caterer’s who cooked a delicious BBQ, and all of the local businesses and parents who donated Raffle prizes and who came with a stall on the day. A big thank you to Mr Spooner and Mr Vitty, who bravely stepped into the stocks, to Surrey Hills and Rivers for the superb games throughout the day, and Summerscales Performing Arts for their spectacular showcase.

Lastly and importantly, to you, our parents, who gave us your precious time, to organise and man the stalls, who came to help set up and clear down the marquees, for buying raffle tickets, enjoying the fair, and being part of the community we are proud to have at Halstead St. Andrews, thank you for your support.
