The HSA Community Dug Deep for Dave by contributing £1007 for his good-bye present. It's an astounding amount only matched by the admiration that the HSA families past and present have for Dave.
In cohoots with Dave's wife, Sue, organisers got direction on what Dave wanted/needed for his new life. He's had his eye on a new lawnmower and shed for his new house and needed to start afresh with new tools. He also fancied going to the Ivy Asia but thought it was out of budget. But not after the contributions given by HSA families! With the money collected we got for Dave:
£500 voucher for Homebase
£250 Voucher for Ivy Asia
£200 voucher for Screwfix
2 nice bottles of red wine
Large box of Lindor Chocolates
In the large card for Dave, messages from all the families were printed out for him to read at his leisure. Organisers also listed out the names of families who contributed but didn't leave a message. The messages were so lovely and included many alumni who didn't want to pass up the chance to wish Dave a happy retirement.
Dave's lovely wife Sue remarked on how moved Dave was as he thought no one would remember him or think to say good-bye. Dave so surprised to get cards and chocolates today on his last mini-bus run and was so surprised that word had got out about his leaving. Little did he know what he had in store for him at 3pm when he was presented with all our lovely gifts. With Sue and his niece Kim by his side, Dave took it in his stride to be showered with tokens of HSA affection. The best part was the lead organiser getting a hug off Dave as he was so touched by everyone's generosity.
Thank you to everyone who contributed and to all those who wished Dave well for his retirement. Our HSA community is kind, caring and strong. It's a great place for our children and our parents to be.
