FoHSA Afternoons at the Movies

FoHSA was so happy to host our first movie events since February 2023. Our team went all out to make it a magical venue for the children to enter into the world of fantasy. We welcomed children from Woodham Rise on Friday, 27 September where they joined the year 3s to watch Migration in our Little Field Theatre.

The children from Woodham Rise were so excited to come to the "big" school on the mini-buses, bags in tow, where upon arrival they were ushered into the dining hall to have a snack of sandwiches before being escorted to the theatre. The children, like the VIPs they are, walked the red carpet, grabbed even more snacks and headed into the theatre to secure the best seats with their friends. All 58 children had a fabulous time and our volunteers were so happy to make it a special experience for all of them.

The first session could not have gone better, and only whetted the appetite of year 4 to 8, who couldn't wait to come to their session. With 79 children booked into the screening on 4 October, they entered the sweet world of Wonka, the origin story of Willy Wonka, magical confectioner to children of all ages.

We couldn't let the opportunity pass, and our team had some sweet surprises for our older children. Six lucky children nabbed some sweet delights to take home after we spun the wheel accompanied by the children’s drumroll. Willy would have been proud of our slight of hand and out of the bag thinking! Our favourite memory of the evening was when all the children sang along with the Oompa Lumpa during the film credits. It was spectacular!

FoHSA would like to thank all the staff that came to support our events with a special shout out to the Spooners, Mrs Aston, Mrs Smith and Mr Lawes. A huge round of applause to the catering team and a HUGE Mexican Wave to all the volunteers who put on the most amazing of afternoons for all the kids.
