About the event
he FoHSA Christmas Shop will give students the opportunity to purchase independent of their grown ups a range of items for parents/caregivers, siblings, grandparents, and even their pets “in secret” (no parents allowed!) on Friday, 24th November. This event will be held at Woodham Rise for Reception to Year 2 at the end of the school day with children in year 3 to 8 attending the event at the Church Hill Site between 3-5pm. Volunteers will help younger children who need support to choose gifts and work within their budgets. There will be a max budget of £10 per student with gifts ranging in price from £2 to £5 – meaning every child can buy one or several gifts depending on what they choose. All items will be gift wrapped and labelled – ready to give on the holiday gift giving day of your family’s choosing. Please note in consultation with the school it has been decided that children in Nursery and Pre-school are too young to participate as they would need too much support and the event is aimed at giving children the opportunity to purchase items independently with minimal support. What we need are donations of new/unused items that are suitable for gifting. These can be new items you no longer want or items in your regift closet at home. You do not have to buy new items to donate. Items can include toys or games, health and beauty items for kids and/or adults, gadgets for kids and adults alike, puzzles (books or jigsaws), arts and craft supplies, unwanted gift vouchers, accessories like new handbags, wallets, purses or belts, silly socks, silly or nice ties, selection boxes of chocolate or biscuits, tea sets or coffee mugs– the possibilities are endless! It does mean some kids will grab a bargain, but it’s all for a good cause! The Christmas Shop will even welcome gifts for pets. Let’s not forget the furry, feathered or scaly loved ones in our lives! Please DO NOT donate alcohol, age restricted items and NO ITEMS CONTAINING NUTS. The Christmas Shop is completely voluntary. If you do not wish your child to participate, then please let your child’s teacher know so they can direct them to another activity. If you would like to get involved with the event to help wrap gifts, help the younger children make their selections, to help restock the tables as children select things, or to help sort the items before the event, please let us know. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at: fosa1234@hotmail.com Some items left over at the end of the Christmas Shop Event may be available for purchase at the Festive Fair if appropriate. But we aim to donate any unsold items to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
